Fitting instructions
PLEASE CHECK YOUR DOOR BEFORE WORK COMMENCES
Directions
Doors must be handled with care and stored in a dry and clean environment. Before doors are delivered for installation to site, ensure that all plaster and cement work is completely dry (and that de-humidifiers are no longer in use) as excessive moisture penetration to the door may result in breakdown of the joints.
Pre-installation inspection
Check carefully that the doors are fully acceptable and in good condition prior to any installation work being carried out or to fixing the same. Please report any defects within 48 hours. Tel : 07890728144 .
Trimming to size
If the door has to be reduced in size (please check for maximum recommended amounts) ensure that equal amounts of wood are taken from sides and/or top and bottom of the door, allowing for the sealing coats. On some doors avoid fitting locks / latches at the rail joints. Please ask on ordering.
Finishing and protecting
It is most important that doors are fully sealed on all six surfaces (including cut-outs) using a good water repellent wood protective treatment.
Special notes
Minor swelling and shrinking of wood parts is NOT a defect within the meaning of this limited warranty, but it is a normal characteristic of wood that may occur with variations in climatic and atmospheric conditions such as humidity and temperature.
Reclaimed Pine: Each batch of timber is unique; therefore we cannot guarantee it will correspond with the colour, exact dimensions or quality of samples shown. The reclaimed pine is typically over 100 years old, cut from old beams/ joists removed from demolished buildings such as Victorian schools, churches and cotton mills. Sometimes the use of high grade wood fillers is necessary.
Oak Boarded Doors: The European oak used has been carefully air-dried, kiln dried and sawn. The newly sawn oak is a light brown colour, which will darken when exposed to light. Manufactured by time-served craftsmen, by hand, these doors will always be unique. Some knots and graining will be present.
External Doors: IT IS NECESSARY TO SEAL ALL JOINING POINTS PROPERLY TO AVOID WATER DROPS / DRIPPING ON THESE SPOTS, BEFORE PAINTING ETC…. We recommend the use of several coats of high quality primer, undercoat and external gloss paint for all softwood doors. Check your doors at least once a year to see if there is any deterioration in the wood protective finish. Treat as necessary.
